William Hovious Son of Stephen Wesley HOVIOUS and Betsy Elizabeth HAMILTON. Born on 15 Sep 1827. William served in the Mexican American War, in Company G, 4th regiment of the Indiana Volunteers, with his cousin Silas. He was wounded in combat and returned home about 1848. He bought some land in early March 1849 and then married in Monroe Co., IN, on 10 Feb 1850, Nancy Jane HOVIOUS, (Daughter of John Harding HOVIOUS and Eliza Emeline LITTEN). In July 1852, William bought forty acres of land from the federal government. He never recovered from his War injuries however, and died on 25 December 1852, at age 25.

His widow Nancy later sold some of the land, and married Robert Houston on 19 May 1866. They had several children
