Richard Anderson Hovious
Son of John HOVIOUS and Nancy MARTIN. Born in Knifley, KY on 18 June 1846. Married on 17 Sep 1874, in Casey, KY, Rebecca Jane CLOYD [b. Nov. 1856 in Middleburg, KY, the daughter of Randle & Ellen Cloyd].
Richard Anderson Hovious led a long and interesting life. At the age of twenty-three he enrolled in the College of the Bible in Lexington, KY. He was very interested in languages and was said to be fluent in German, Greek and Hebrew, all languages he used in his study of religion. He taught German at Transilvania University in Lexington, and later travelled all over the United States in the course of his lifetime, preaching in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and of course Kentucky. He died in Norfield, Mississippi, on 24 May 1923.

- John Alexander Hovious, b. 4 October 1883, Springfield, Illinois. Died 1954, Vicksburg, Mississippi. Married Beadie Corella WEST.
- Hartwell Martin Hovious, b. 5 November 1886, Little River Country, Kansas. Died in Meridian, Mississippi, 21 October 1949. Married Minnie ROBINSON.
- Alice A. Hovious, born February 1888. Married John BROOKS.
- Kate Hovious, born February 1892. Married John SHORE.
- Frederick Jasper Hovious, born 15 August 1894, Knifley, KY. Died 27 February 1964, Jackson, Mississippi. Married Beatrice JOHNSON.
- Zachary Hovious, born August 1897, died young.
